Growing up in Los Angeles Mike spent most of his free summer days bodysurfing at Venice or Zuma, sailing on Santa Monica Bay or backpacking in the Sierras. He began board surfing after getting married on Kauai in 1994 and has been making up for lost time ever since, first in SoCal and now on Cape Cod. Mike and his wife arrived on Cape Cod in 1996 and have two fast-growing girls. In addition to remaking NESURF, Mike is a co-founder of MoreBeach.com, WorkTools, Endeavor Tool Company, Accentra, and Invention City. In the 1980's, he worked as a commercial photographer and photojournalist in New York City after graduating from UCLA with a degree in Economics. email: "mike at nesurf.com".

Cape Cod native Shawn Vecchione grew up surfing between New England and Hawaii. After high school he pursued a professional snowboard career where he was one of the first American picks for snowboarding's Olympics debut. In training he slipped a disk in his back, quit snowboarding and decided to devote himself exclusively to surfing. In 1993 he started the Boarding House surf shop in Hyannis, MA with a longtime friend. He then picked up some surfing sponsors and began competing up and down the East Coast. In 1995 he ended up 5th in the ESA Eastern Surfing Championships in Hatteras and also took 5th in the inaugural run of the Red Bull Ice Break, an event that has become the premier competition for winter surfing in the Northeast. He sold the Boarding House surf shop and moved to Kauai in 1999 where he found his new passion and career as a surfboard shaper. He learned under the guidance of shaping legends such as Bobby Allen, Dick Brewer and Billy Hamilton. In the Hawaiian islands Shawn made boards for all of the up and coming Hawiaian groms as well as the the Iron brothers, Kamalei Alexander, Felepe Pomar, Makua Rothman, Laid Hamilton, Liam Macnamarra and many other big names. As one of the pioneers of SUPs Shawn shaped some of Laird Hamilton's first SUP boards. Now you can blame Shawn along with Laird. Shawn returned to New England in 2007 where he continues to shape boards and surf semi professionally, working with photographers and videographers. He recently worked on a film that got him diving with great white sharks off of Cape Cod. He now owns a surfshop with his shaping room in his retail store, "Vec Surfboards" in Orleans MA and is producing over 1000 boards a year for customers and professional surfers all over the world. Shawn joined NESurf to carry forward his love for New England's land and ocean. He is working to create a site where all New England wave riders can come together and to develop great products that honor New England with value and integrity.

Although Olaf grew up on the beaches of Cape Cod, he did not start surfing until his late teens. It was love at first ride. This passion for surfing and a near death experience inspired him to create SICKDAY- a surf and skate shop located in the heart of Wellfleet. It is his belief that sometimes everyone needs a sickday to stay healthy. Coined the smart dude, Olaf is also a network administrator, computer technician and web developer. On his many sickdays, he is involved with giving back to the New England surfing community through Church, Eastern Surfing Association, Christian Surfers, Surfers Church and Surfrider etc. email: "olaf at nesurf.com"

Chris grew up in Italy and spent most of his summers underwater, snorkeling and freediving. Fresh off the boat in 1992, Chris took an interest in the New England coastline by continuing to freedive and taking up bodyboarding. Since then he has bodyboarded (and sometimes surfed) badly, in places like Tahiti, New Zealand, Australia, Costa Rica and Puerto Rico. But it is those empty cold and oh so good the waves that not only got him interested in launching N.E.Surf in June of 2000, but keep him in New England. When not taking criticism for "not standing up" or working on N.E.Surf he's in the woods, running. email: "chris at nesurf.com"

Asa was born and raised in Orleans, Cape Cod, and his parents fished commercially out of Wellfleet and Provincetown in the 70's, so his love for all things sandy and salty is grounded in a deep respect for the coastal environment and the lives it touches. Aside from enjoying year round surf in New England and abroad, Asa is a loving husband, new father, aspiring artist, sometimes musician, avid diver, small boat sailor, competition shucker, back-end developer, front-end designer, public health professional, clinical social worker, passionate educator, and skillful problem-solver. And that's just the tip of the sandbar! Asa and his team at NadeauCo provide multi-disciplinary guidance and help to N.E.Surf in many areas. If you don't find him underwater or on the water, he'll be somewhere nearby the shore...just hit'm up: "asa at nesurf.com"

Bill's love of the ocean started at an early age despite knocking himself out by tripping and falling on the sea wall at Newport's First Beach at the age of 5. Growing up in Massachusetts near the Rhode Island State Line gave Bill frequent access to the beaches and environs of Newport, RI and Horseneck Beach on the Massachusetts South Coast. Frequent trips to the coast on beautiful summer days would be followed by crisp, colorful fall days; snowy beach treks in winter, and the occasional ugly day in early spring. The Cliff Walk in Newport is still one of Bill's favorite places in the world. Although never on a surf board Bill is still the family champion body surfer. An occasional break from sea side may include skiing the mountains of New England. Any of these activities is always preceded by a two mile or more run; usually on the bike path along the Cape Cod Canal. Bill is currently in his 30th year of running every day without missing a day. Bill's grandmother was the first generation of her family to migrate from Cape Cod to Rhode Island via Foxboro (home of the NFL's New England Patriots). So it only seems natural that Bill would migrate from the RI area with a 25 year stay in Foxboro to raise a family, then "return" to Cape Cod. A healthful walk by the sea could help to solve any dilemma except how all this lead Bill to law school. Thus Bill's interest in NESurf and Morebeach.
Surf Forecaster, Undergraduate of Meteorology Plymouth State University
A Native of New Hampshire, TJ grew up on Lake Winnipesaukee where he fell in love with any activity involving water. It wasn’t until high school that he found and fell in love with surfing as well. With a longtime family connection to Jenness Beach in Rye, his passion for surfing has grown year after year. Pursuing his love of the ocean, he received his PADI dive certification while surveying the reefs of Caribbean Mexico. Afterward he volunteered for a conservation corps based in Santa Cruz, California. When not surfing there, he was busy building and maintaining trails throughout the California countryside. Three years ago he decided to meld his passion for surfing and curiosity of the natural world together, and has been studying meteorology at Plymouth State University ever since. He hopes to provide detailed and accurate forecasts for New England’s burgeoning surfing community.
