New Surfer's Journal?

Anybody get this yet?

My East Coast Ranch
Photos and Story by Woody Mills

"Somewhere near Boston hangs a chain of private island pearls and, for those in the know, rich surfing opportunities. The sweet, wrapping peelers and boat-only access make comparisons to California’s Hollister Ranch hard for the Eastern crew to avoid. The difference is consistency. These spots require perfectly aimed hurricane hits to get them doing their thing; which happens every few years for a handful of days. Author Woody Mills tries not to miss it."

I'm psyched to see some nice glossy's of NE surf. Such a great mag.

To catch most of the "island" spots in New England you need a boat and with the exception of one place, most are over rated in my opinion. Also, I guess the comparision to the Ranch is right when you compare property prices near some of these breaks, but that is where you draw the line. From what I have seen in mags, I would take Rights and Lefts, Cojo, and Razorblades for all the breaks on BI, MV, and the half dozen other islands out there with good surf.

Every year I go down to the Martha's Vineyard Striped Bass and Bluefish for a week to fish.

You wouldn't believe what we see around the hunk thats boat accesible only.

I've gotten all messed up on hunk fishin right on the little beach during the bluefish tourni. I gotta admit I like MV except all the Clinton fags that hang there.

"My East Coast Ranch", my ass....
"Near Boston"? Sure, it is.
I'm sure Woody is in for a really warm welcome from the Dukes County boys, next time he visits. You may not realize it, but Dukes County consists of three islands, not one. He doesn't live on ANY of them.

MV would be a lot nicer, if it weren't for all the fukkin' tourists with surfboards.
Even worse, are the ones with surfboards, cameras, internet access, and big mouths.

Why does this always turn into the same old stupid fucking argument?
It's been talked about over....and...... over....... and.... over on this site...put it to rest.

Why don't we focus on the positive publicity that New England has been getting the last few years. People are starting to respect New England more and more in surfing.

Kids are coming out of New England and the upper right coast and surfing well in contests - this type of stuff helps them...the get the respect they deserve.

My NESurf chistmas wish is that all of you drop this fucking stupid ass argument about secret spots - and just keep it to yourself and surf it yourself.

Two words that don't belong in the surfing lexicon : ' publicity ' and ' contest ' .
Just my opinion though .

YMMV

Hey Sonny I am not upset by your comments BUT you have to stop this "my cock is bigger than yours stuff." What up with the "SOME OF US LIVE HERE bs." Frankly you sound like a RANCH landowner OR ONE OF THOSE SUMMER MORONS ON MV(your basic prick with a little money). So what? You live near the beach and I have to drive a little (not from Worcester though). Good for you, but I have been surfing in RI for ten years now and I think I have witnessed the explosion in New England as well as anyone. I dont like it when I head to a spot I used to surf alone and now share with 30 others, almost all of which are new faces. Also, it sucks when you get new comers who think they own the place. But lets face it, NE is no Ranch. WHICH was my original point. I am with you on this one though, if you head to a spot and see a photog, give them the one finger wave.
