This put me in a funk. I grew up listening to the Beastie Boys. Forty-seven is way to young to die. Cancer sucks.
Shit ... I need to start living for today.

Seriously too young. The Beastie Boys were always part of my soundtrack through life, so this is a bummer.
And yeah, it's way to easy to forget to live for today man. Life and health are fragile sometimes. I learned I have MS last year when I lost my balance and couldn't walk straight for months amongst other shit. That's why I decided to learn to surf this summer now that I feel better. What I'm saying is You never know when life is gonna take a shit on you like getting cancer and bieng dead at 47 or waking up and bieng diabled or getting hit by a bus etc. Don't put shit you want to do off because you figure you can do it later.
Anyway, yeah I feel bad for his family.
this hits a sad nostalgic note.
i've listened to the beasties from day one, but haven't in a long time as i've outgrown that kind of music. The jazz station in newport plays a version flute loop and brings me back.
1st song i heard from them back in the 80's was slow and low (written by run-dmc). loved a lot of their music esp. the instrumentals.
Damn. Seau, a Beastie....who's next?
<crossing fingers> Lisa Lisa, from Cult Jam?

when I taught the History of Rock and Roll I always showed the time when The Beasties appear on the scene...classic....keep on partying
Man, this makes me feel O-L-D, granted 47 is way to young to go out. Yauch and the BBs were pioneers, truly sad. I was reminded about a month ago that you gota live life to the fullest while you are young and healthy. There is a curse on "nice" people in the healthcare biz; meaning you could be a crack-smoking, puppy-killing, child molester and you will live to 95. But, if you are a nice person and just happen to notice something strange with your body one day, well, you are f$%^ked. I met two people (one 35 and one 46) who had the unfortunite circumstances of being "nice" recently and it made me take stock.

The video they released last year for 'make some noise' (fight for your right revisited) is one of the best I have ever seen. High school was all about the beasties for me; way to go for 20+ years of good work.
