    6'0 HWS single fin question

I'm building my second hollow wood surfboard right now. Its pretty much identical to the 6'0 Joel Tudor Good Karma model. This single fin thing is new to me so I was wondering what size box to install as well as what type of fin I should be looking for? Appreciate the input!

put a 10.5, then you have the more option for fin placement. Fin? it's up to you... 8.0" flex

put side fins boxes in, just in case!

You have to go with a 8.5" JT Karma fin, no side bites.

Thanks for the help! Does 4.5" from the tail sound like a good spot for the box?

Now that I think of it, 8.5" may be too big for that board. Not sure on the box, chino should know.

I ride the stock fin on my 6'1" Channel Islands MSF.

    The fin is 8.5" deep.
I like the base of the fin 7.5" forward of the tail.

The fin does have a rake, so the tip of the fin is closer to the the tail than that.

The fin is, probably a little big for the board, but given that most common waves I ride it in are waist to chest it's nice to have the extra kick to drive through mush

If it gets bigger I usually go to other boards, but I have some smaller fins (in width, deeper in draft) for it, like the soulflex types.

They are still wierd boards for around here, because they like waves that provide energy to spare. As a generality around here, we are trying to create energy from the waves.

Oh, and it's a 10.5" box that begins 6" from the tail.

if he is making a wood board, he has to put blocks in if he is doing plugs (fcs/future)for side fins. Futher down the line in construction he cant go back.

4.5" is fine from the tail.
