View Full Version : Stolen 9' WRV at the Wall 5/21

Its been a long time since I've written a post, and I hate to do so under these circumstances, but once again my faith in humanity has been proven a tad generous. Last Friday, while sleeping comfortably in my house on Kings Highway, one block off the Wall in Hampton, NH, a close friend of mine had a board stolen off the roof of her car. The board was a 9' WRV with a wide blue stripe down the stringer and two green ones down each rail on the deck. It also had a newly repaired tail ding. It was her first new board, and one that I can say that she truly loved. Kings Highway is a sleepy little surf neighborhood and I can honestly say I have never worried about locking my door, or my surf equipment, until now. Maybe I was ignorant, or just hopeful.

For any of you who still remember your first new board, you know how personal that piece of equipment is. The person who stole this board is nothing more than scum, and I hope that someone finds out who he or she is. If the person has the balls to return the board by the end of the week to 144 Kings Highway I will not seek any sort of retribution. I will call off the dogs so to speak. However, you will no longer be welcome to surf anywhere in the state of NH.

What makes this even worse is the theft took place during Northeast Regionals. I surfed in that contest three times and loved it. I hope that no one taking place was involved, but either way it does not make the event look good. Anyone who surfed or had anything to do with the event should be outraged. I repeat, I AM NOT SAYING ANYONE INVOLVED WITH THE CONTEST IS THE CULPRIT, but I do know that not everyone involved is a saint.

If anyone has any information on the board please send me a message or call one of the NH shops. They are all on the lookout. Thank you in advance for your help. Keep our beaches safe... and clean.

I would reccomend a lock, but even in that case, some ahole will just smash a ding in your board or cut it with a knife.

Most people don't suck. Take solace in that.

The idea of having to lock up a board in my driveway, or lock anything in my driveway, in a little beach town is what upsets me most. Its bullshit.

sorry to hear. dunno if it's any help, but the esa regional surf contest was held the 21st-23rd, so the culprit may not be local (people there were from nj, ny, ri, ma, and maine.

Blows. Haven't seen it in maine yet. I will keep my eye out for a nice WRV board.

I left my car door open for a two hour session with cell, sunglasses and wallet. They were still there when I got back. There is still some honesty in the world.

Does your "little beach town" have a police force??
Does the state you live in have a state police force??
Does either of the above have laws against theft, petty or otherwise??
Does your area have a drug problem??
Lock everything or lose it. And even that is sometimes insufficient.

Simple, isn't it??

yes. the good news is that bastard might have been a nj or ny greasy guido who stole the board after doing some pushups. not many of those fine gents in nh/maine. what great states.

Wow. You are awesome. A true purveyor of information. Thanks for those useful pearls of wisdom. I had never thought of it like that.

Thank you. It comes naturally:D
BTW, it had little to do with the contest other than provide enough confusion for the theft to take place. Most surfers there were kids with parents rooting for them onshore, hardly the theft types

Yet another astute observation from the reigning king of stating the obvious. You mean to tell me some rich little 10 year old riding up in his dad's SUV probably didn't steal a 9' longboard with a ding? White kid's from the suburbs are getting screwed in this economy too. I can barely afford micro brew beer anymore. I might have to start buying shit in a can.

All I said was that I hope no one from the contest was involved, but that it did not make the contest look good, which also pissed me off because I use to compete in it annually.

I'm not really sure what your problem is, but you seem to be the only person who has an issue with what I posted. I was simply reaching out to the greater New England surf community for a little bit of help, and more than anything to vent my frustration. If you see it on Craigslist, let me know. That is all.

If your contribution to this thread is going to be nothing more than sideways comments then I bid you good day.

I SAID GOOD DAY! :fu:

There were a few shady NJ characters that fit the profile lurking in the fog last saturday.

You are tweaked rather easily.:D
By the way, you did say, and I quote "..... but I do know that not everyone involved is a saint". I was just responding to that...
And you misread my comments outside of the intended thought. Many still believe NH is a "sleepy community" as you posted. It isn't. Hasn't been for years. I bet the thief is a local (within 50 miles), not from NJ, NY, etc.
Thats all.:bye:
