Just wondering if anyone had a used funshape- in the upper 7's to 8 they are looking to get rid of?-

I'm in a pickle- I know I need to start riding a smaller board to get better, but dont want to part with my 10 footer, but cant honestly spend the $$ on a new board--- was thinking of dumping my LB- but know I will be kicking myself later n the summer- besides getting a paper route anyone have any suggestions?-- basically my options are:

sell LB get funshape
keep LB- and dont improve much
look for a used funshape I can afford-

the funshape is a fallacy.....go with a 6'-6'4" fish....the learning curve is steeper but its not that bad and once you figure that out you'll be 1000% better off than with a fatmans funshape

Careful with pickle if you have pressure dents on your deck.

funshapes suck. either stick to long boarding or get a longer shortboard like a 6'7. i tried a funshape when i first started and it sucked like i did. then i decided to get a 6'4 sharpeye squash tail fish. its about 19" wide and 2.5" thick. i still use it on occasion when the waves are small or weak.

My friend has a 80's pin tail single fin, it floats like a long board but turns real nice. Something like that would be good coming off a long board.

how small?- my concern is that If i get a board that is too small I will only be able to use it on days that are chest and higher- to be honest- I have been having a really tough time getting outside with my 10 footer during days that are over chest high, and also think that a smaller board will help me out in that respect- I'm only surfing beach breaks- as I dont want to intrude on the line up at the points- not ready for that yet, and I imagine those guys out there appreciate it

But I also use a 9'0 and a 8'0 noserider . If you go out and look there is some THICK short boards out there like the 5'10 twin fin. My friend's twiney is thicker than my 9'0 , and turns a lot better ,,of course.

get a fish and you will be able to ride it in anything. Just make sure you get it thick and wide. It may be a bitch to get used to in small waves but you will get used to it. In some regards it will be like learning to surf again but it will be worth it. Stay away from funshapes, they really have no use unless you are a 300 pound football lineman.

All Smiles, if you're still interested in a funshape, I have a 7'8" Shane Smith Funshape that I'm still interested in ditching for a fair price. I also have a buddy looking to get rid of a 7'4" Stewart Funshape. Email me offline and let me know.
