I have 2 pairs of tortoises. Both are from Africa. They are Captive Bred.

Sulcattas: 3rd Largest Land torotise.
I have 2 Sulcattas that are a hair over 2 years old. One is like 9" and one is like 6". Set-up includes an 8'x40" water trough and all lighting. The trough should be good enough for a few more years. These tortoises get LARGE. They may break 100-125 pounds and in the wild have broken 175 pounds and that will happen in the next 7-10 years depending on how well they are cared for. They eat a variety of greens and require a water dish that they can crawl into. They have one but will need a bigger one by next year. They are easy to care for. Feed, scoop the poop, clean the water everyday and they are happy. They LOVE roaming the yard and eating dandelion, clover, and grass. You just have to be careful there are no poisnous weeds. All the information on their care can be had online. They are very cool. They will get LARGE and will need an enclosure to accomodate them. A Heated shed and pen for the summer is ideal but you will need to have them inside for the winter. My plans were to have a greenhouse connected to the shed with gas heat. For summer all they would need is heat lights and maybe a pig heat pad for at night if it is below 65. I will offer the complete set-up with torts for $350. If you plan on making your own enclosure I will knock off 50 bucks for the trough.

Leopards: Same care but they will only reach 50-75 pounds sometimes a bit larger. I have one that is 4" and one that is around 3". They grow much slower than the Sulcattas. They are in a nice plastic bin cage that is around 48"x20" with all lighting and water dishes. $350.

I will post pics of what the torts look like. Actual pics of complete set-ups can be posted if someone is SERIOUS. Please dont even think about buying these if you are not committed to properly caring for them. I would take them back and help adopt them out if you ever decide they are not for you. Too many pets are released or abandoned.

i'd love to adopt those guys from you but i'm currently in a second story apt surrounded by asphalt and doubt they could be happy.

I'M curious of two things though:

are these legal animals to have in the states?

and how did you come about owning such exotic pets? do you have others or was this a random thing?

Will they revolve around my car?

If I fire them, will they go straight or are they heat-seeking?

1 or 3?

they would be fine in your apt. they don't need too much space, its not like they need to get exercise, they're turtles!!!

they sell these at the local pet shop in wareham as well. i've thought about getting a couple, they are just so awesome to watch.

They need A LOT of room and a lot of exercise to be healthy. They get to be well over 100 pounds. Please do your research before you buy ANY pet. People that sell them will say anything to make the sale.

They are legal. Can be had at Reptile Shows...Cobras, Rattlers, Mambas....Crocs..Gators, Anacondas...WHATEVER your little heart desires
