View Full Version : Swap longboards?

I have a longboard that I'm too heavy for (sinking quite a bit on the paddle out). Figured maybe there's somebody out there with a thicker/longer board who is getting sick of its, shall we say, less responsive nature, who may be looking for something a little lighter with maybe better performance characteristics?!?

Anyway, it's a Hammersurf Ripstick (http://www.hammersurf.com/boards.html), shaped by Corey Davis in Oregon. Board is light & thin, 9' x 22" x 3" (the site says 2.75 for width, but this one is 3"), and is 2 years old I believe. Surfed only about 6 times, no dings, pressure cracks, etc. A couple minor pressure dents on the top due to the light glassing (and apparently, my bulk). Board new is approx. $575, so I realize a straight-up swap for a $1000 board in the same condition is not possible. Figured a less expensive, but newer board (mine) for a more expensive, yet older board (yours).

Anyway, I'm 180lbs, so would be looking for something wider (23-24") and/or thicker (3.5") and/or longer (9'4 - 9'6). Just throwing this out there to see if any interesting trade possibilities pop up (I'm bored). PM me if interested. I can take some photos Saturday.

OK, re-read my orig post, and I guess the term "sinking" is a little too strong. I'm not sinking... the board is just riding lower in the water than I'd like. I can catch waves no problem, it's the paddle out that is the issue. I have rotator cuff issues, and it's a bi-yatch getting out on a larger day. On a bud's thicker board, I paddle out easy. With mine, it's more like going through the water instead of over it. Shoulders kill me, but not on his...

I hear you, guys. I realize the board is not too small for my weight. Obviously, if a 6' shortboard can handle my weight, then a 9' certainly can. All I'm saying is, for my long board, I'd like more of a floater. I'll leave the rotator cuff shredding for the shortboard days. For the longboard surf, I want to take it easy. That's all... just looking to see what's out there for interesting trades. Later.
