View Full Version : YORK,MAINE stolen bag

While my truck was parked at Lobster Cove restaurant today (with permission from the manager) I had my bag leaning against the side of the truck, way back in the corner of the lot facing the woods.

Mysteriously, the kitchen staff that were constantly in and out of the back door, and the only ones in view of that side of the truck, saw the bag left there, saw it sitting there, but never saw anybody take it.

I decided to dine somewhere else ... figured I would be doing business with criminals to have eaten there, and I just can't have that ... it's probably a great place, but if you go there lock everything up and park somewhere you can watch your vehicle while you eat.

Police have been notified ... it's a 10' FCS bag, red and black on one side, grey on the other. No shoulder strap, I still have THAT with me. Unless it's washed it will reak of sawdust and wood preservative on one side from being in a semitrailer with windows for the ride out here.

The police are very suspect of the staff but, as always, possession is 9/10 of the law, so it's probably long gone unless somebody screws up.

Thanks to the York Police and those locals who tried to help. Maine is still a great place with a lot of great people, and I will be back again. But with everything under lock and key of course. These creeps are not an example of the kind of people you usually encounter in Maine. I'd never discourage anybody from visiting here.

Any info, please contact me here or call the York Police. Info leading to the capture/arrest/beating/execution of these callous, heinous and felonious neanderthals earns a free lobster roll and a Moxie next time I'm in town.

Thanks to all in advance,

Big Riggin' Billy "Big Board" Jack McCoy, the kook from Wisconsin ...

there was just an article in the York paper about how the police arrested a few juveniles for stealing shit out of peoples car. They mentioned stereoes, sattelite radios as well as surfboards. I wouldn't be surprised if one of the kids worked there or something. I always used to leave an extra board in the back of my truck but I won't be doing that anymore. Those little fucks better not touch my stuff.

Actually the surf was cleaner Saturday and Sunday ... though a touch smaller. Hard to get any rides yesterday. Even the 'pros' were only getting a few shorties in ... too much wind on it I guess.

Yea, don't leave anything in your vehicle ... hell don't even leave your vehicle if it's at Lobster Cove restaurant ... I'd recommend hardened cables wrapped at least 10 times around your boards to the racks, lock all doors, put a Club on the steering wheel ... take hardened towing chains and wrap around both axles of your vehicle and padlock to a telephole pole or similar anchor point with an industrial grade padlock ... and a lojack in the car might be a good idea too. Maybe four of those wheel clamps like they use in some cities for parking violations. A motion activated video camera inside the cab. Oh and make sure your insurance is paid up.

Maybe better bring a friend and take turns, one stay with the vehicle while the other surfs ... just in case they figure a way to circumvent all of this ...

On a positive note, thanks for the replies, and hope to see you guys in the lineup someday soon. Hopefully when it's more than ankle high :D

P.S. if bag is returned with thief zipped inside, I'll add $100 cash to the lobster roll reward =))

We should do something to catch them ... set up a sting ... yes, that's it, a sting operation ... let's rent a van, park it at lobster cove, leave some boards etc. loosely on the outside, but this time put cameras in there and devise an alarm to sound loudly when the board is detached from the rack ...

I'll bet when the cops searched their place they'd find half of the stuff missing from York and Hampton ...

Maybe we can hire the Equalizer or something ...

All joking aside, I hope they catch the little bastards even if they don't get our stuff back. Nobody should have to fear every time they step away from their vehicle/gear.

I hope they dont get caught. They act as a "selective pressure" to discourage people from surfing; we need more thieves patrolling the breaks.
It will keep mid-west kooks in the midwest. Go home, tourist.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAAAAAA!!!!

They won't discourage any surfing. They'll just discourage us from patronizing the local businesses and encourage us to lock everything and bring no more than we need to the beach.

If I had to rent an armored truck to go to the beach, I wouldn't miss a good session when I was within reach :D
