Up for grabs is a Canon 400mm f2.8 Type I lens with clean glass and very minor cosmetic issues on the casing . . .

This is a solid lens for pros or serious amateurs . . .

If you shoot Canon and you're looking to get serious professional telephoto results, here's your chance to become a contender at half the investment of the cost of the current 400mm 2.8 [new] (and still over $1000 less than the current market value of a solid Type II) . . .

You can not get a faster super-telephoto lens than f2.8 . . . When the light gets low, maintain image-integrity by having the right gear for the job . . . You will never be undergunned with a 400mm 2.8 (and it will even make many 500mm f4 owners jealous) . . .

This lens was not abused like some of the pro's loaners you see getting thrown around on the sidelines of an NFL game---I treated this lens like a baby---Always the best care--Never dropped and never loaned-out . . .

Comes with lens cover, hood, and lens trunk . . .

what should be noted about the lens:
--the glass is spotless (hard to get a good pic of the elements)

the rest is just cosmetics:
--under the tripod mount is the worst part cosmetically speaking
--a couple nics and scratches here and there (i tried to show all of them)
--the black metal ring around the glass on the front element has tiny dots where it looks as if the coating on the metal ring can be seen through to silver (looks like tiny white dots in the pics)
--the black rubber ring to which the hood connects has, i guess, white smeared on it from taking the hood on and off
--the cam mount is worn but contact are still solid with no issues, tiny bit of play on my mark II and 20d but i've had that happen with all big lenses on my cams so it's really nothing surprising to me

took it to the local canon dealer a few hours ago and they said that everything looks/works good on it and is worth about $3500

33, pretty good man, is that what you were looking roughly? that seems pretty close to market, maybe slightly low but right there.

do you really think canon is the best glass? personally i think nikon glass is a shade better, i prefer overall results from canon. also, i think leica is in another league from either of them.
