Hey guys,
I recently moved to Quincy Ma from San Diego and need to get out on the water. I only have a 3/2 and 3/2 booties so I need to wait until the water gets to at least 55-60 degrees. Iv got a few Short boards that I ride all 6 ft, one is thicker than the others which helps on smaller days. I am open to getting a longer thicker board if that's what it takes to surf here. I was hoping someone could enlighten me on some good surf spots in Massachusetts, or just in new England in general. Also when does the water start to warm up here ? to at last 55 degrees... I see anyone hardly posts here but hopefully someone can help me out!! feel free to shoot me an email too. thanks guys, see you out on the water!

Bryce

Bounce around on the south shore, Rexham beach, Nantasket beach, and green harbour along with some smaller breaks and secret spots are usually reliable. If you have a 1 foot swell at Boston buoy that's 10 seconds or more and the winds are cross off or off, Nantasket will have chest high head high all day long and sandy bottom surfing.
If it goes higher at buoy, usual it's close to double plus when it finally breaks. I'd say grab yourself a used longboard and a cheap 4/3 suit and some booties and hoodie and you can surf around here until late fall/early winter and then early spring. Best swells during those windows.

This week all along south shore beaches will be bombing.
Wednesday and Thursday look to be the best, mid tide.
Went Friday in afternoon and the paddle out was a pounding but the gems rolling in between all the chop were worth it. A good 4/3 suit and 5 mil booties and gloves along with a decent hoodie will be fine as long as air temp/ wind chills aren't below 30. Paddling keeps me warm so I don't have to wear the Red Cell 6/5/4. That's only on those in the teens days!
