Sakonnet Area Breaks
A message from Local Surfers
in this area (it applies to most
other areas too):
Welcome to our area! The ocean
is for everyone to enjoy in a
safe and respectful manner. Many
of you have traveled here in
hopes of finding a place to surf
and commune with the ocean. In
just the last few years exposure
has created a large influx in
the summer surfing scene here
and all over New England. If
we all can follow a few simple "rules" it
will make for a surfing experience
filled with good memories and
tales of surf for years to come.
1) Please drive slowly and carefully.
Many here have small children
who play in or near the streets
and roads. Remember: how would
you like some one speeding in
and out of your neighborhood?
2) Respect the environment.
Do not defecate in public places.
In the summer months there are
portable johns at the beachs.
Remember: how would you like
someone doing that in your back
yard?
3) Respect the locals. Some
of us here have been surfing
these waves for 20+ years. Remember
how would you like someone coming
to your break and not showing
you the respect you deserve in
your town.
4) If you are a long board rider
respect the short boarders who
are trying to catch waves too.
How would you like it if someone
came around on a Jet Ski and
messed up the waves for you.
5) Please do not litter and
always remember to recycle.
